Fitting In By Standing Out

Fitting In By Standing Out Fitting In By Standing Out, 2018

Fitting In By Standing Out (2018) is an observation into Pang's Fish Bar, a fish and chip / Chinese takeaway shop in the heart of North London's cultural melting pot. I talked to Mrs. Pang, the oldest of the Pang family, about what it's like to balance assimilating into the British culture while upholding their Chinese values, the multiple identity crises of their shop faced, and how her shop bonded her family. Her story is one of many classic immigrant stories that stands as a metaphor of endurance that embodies a generation-long journey to fit into a foreign culture that they now call home.
