With first, second & third places going to Kayla Barrington, Jane Nixon and Lara Small respectively, the grid was extremely competitive and seriously exciting to watch! The start included huge wheelies and my rather poor start! I qualified P2 but slipped back to 15th after stalling the Suzuki GSXR 600 SRAD, an epic machine created by John 'Skelly' Skelson. This video covers my reflection of the event, getting third place and the celebration of so many brilliant female riders making history.
The race attracted a huge variety of talent. It prompted many competitors to their get their Auto Cycle Union (ACU) licenses and it was an opportunity for club riders to battle it out round the famous Donington Park. This event will trigger so many more women to take part in racing with the overall goal to get a 50/50 mixed grid and get the best talent to the podium - no matter what’s between their legs. Like a Triumph 675, or a Kawasaki ZX6R, or an old SRAD… ;)
