I'm going to be honest. This wedding changed me. Watching Sarah interact with her students opened my heart in a way that I didn't think existed. Sarah is a special needs teacher, at The Little Lighthouse, here in Tulsa. She works with special needs students every day. It is funny that she works for The Little Lighthouse, because she is just that, a light. That is the best way I could describe her to someone. She lights up the room. The wedding was no different. Sarah and Seth were married at Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa. The wedding was over the top gorgeous. But the thing that stood out the most to me was just how loving and caring these two were for the people around them. Sarah had a hand full of her students be the ring bearers and flower girls for the day. Every time she saw the kids, she stopped what she was doing, and showed them love. My heart opened more every time I saw this happen, and I realized just how important Sarah's job was. I personally haven't been around too many special needs children, but there was just something special that I hadn't paid attention to before when it came to Sarah's relationship not only with the kids, but their parents. It blew me away. It changed me.
I have to say the moment that kicked my butt the most would be when the little kids were walking down the aisle before Sarah came down to meet Seth. An acoustic guitar strummed as the musician sang the song "I can only imagine." That song took on an entirely different meaning for me. Right after the wedding I was talking with Sarah and said that moment got me. She said, that when these kids get to heaven, their bodies will work perfectly. They will be able to worship God like they never have before. She said she can only imagine what they will say when they see their Savior. Cue the tears as I type.
I guess all I can really say to Sarah and Seth is thank you. Thank you for letting me in on this beautiful wedding. Thank you for trusting me with these vulnerable moments. Thank you for making me a better version of me. I am so happy to call you both "friend," and excited to build a relationship with you all moving forward. I love you both, your families, and those sweet kiddos.
