Nils Asther (Jan 17, 1897- Oct 13, 1981) was an exceedingly handsome Swedish actor whose actual birthplace was Denmark. He was active in Hollywood from 1926 to the mid 1950s. He appeared in over 70 from 1916 to 1963 and 16 of them were produced in the silent era. He is often called ,the "male Greta Garbo" .He is mainly remembered today for the 2 films he co-starred with Garbo, and the pre-code interracial love affair in The Bitter Tea of General Yen (where I first saw him in the late 70s and then immediately had a crush on him!) . Dream a Little Dream of Me was written in 1931 by Fabian Andre and Wilbur Schwandt (music) and Gus Khan (lyrics).
