Experimental Cremations 1 - CRUMBEL Project

Experimental cremations performed at the PrehistoMuseum (Frémalle, Belgium). This study aims at detecting the presence of garments worn by the deceased during cremations in past and present times. More precisely, we are investigating whether the deceased worn unventilated shoes or not, as the latter is likely one of the clothing items most resistant to fire and might represent a proxy to discuss whether an individual was dressed with other clothing pieces or not.
