In the event held on Kashmir Day, Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan joined the chain and claimed Kashmiris will get independence soon.
"Kashmiri people do not fear death. As the curfew is lifted, millions of Kashmiri will be on the roads. God willing, I can see the path which will lead Kashmiris up to the freedom," he said.
Tensions in Kashmir, which is divided between Pakistan and India but claimed by both, have escalated since August, when India downgraded the semi-autonomy of Indian-administered Kashmir and imposed a security and communications lockdown.
