After a double mastectomy to remove a tumor in her breast, Sharon Prolow of Jupiter, Florida thought she'd put the cancer behind her. When it came back, she was terrified, but determined to fight it. "I knew I wanted to be alive for another 50 years to watch my children grow up and see my future grandchildren."
Sharon was originally told she'd need to go to Boston or New York to receive the specialized, advanced care she'd need for recurrent breast cancer. But after meeting with the specialists at Miami Cancer Institute she knew she'd be able to receive the same quality of care -- including proton therapy treatment -- close to home.
Sharon shares the ups and downs of her cancer journey and how it affected her whole family, with Baptist Health's Resource blog.
