In this interview, Sterling shares his defining moment, one most of us can relate to, a rock bottom so to speak. We’ve all had this in some shape or form, the question becomes how uncomfortable do we have to get to change.
Sterling shares how we are biologically programmed to protect ourselves from discomfort but that we shouldn’t protect ourselves from it we should expose ourselves to it and take steps toward the discomfort. That knowledge alone is great but without action it’s meaningless. He gives actionable steps on how to achieve this: 1. set an impossible goal, outside of what you could reasonably accomplish, just outside your comfort zone, declare it. 2. take measurable action- in doing this- you’ve got to say new things, do new things, some of those things are uncomfortable. 3. share those results, the success and the failure. Continuing this over and over again will not only yield different results but build momentum and build confidence.
Ultimately look for opportunities in your life to be uncomfortable, declare those things, take action. Discomfort is your access to achieve your greatest potential.
