Individuals with cerebral palsy (CP) may benefit from chiropractic care. In this study, 78 CP patients received either spinal manipulative therapy (SMT) to their cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine or a sham treatment. Those in the SMT group experienced a clinically significant reduction in muscle spasticity that was not observed in the sham treatment group. The findings suggest that spinal manipulation can provide a short-term reduction in muscle spasticity in patients with CP.
