WATCH: Withholding Ukraine aid isn't just 'crazy,' it's ‘wrong,’ Bill Taylor says Bill Taylor, the top U.S. diplomat in Ukraine, told House lawmakers in the first public hearing in the impeachment inquiry against President Donald Trump that withholding foreign aid from Ukraine for “no good foreign policy reason” is “wrong.” Taylor’s comments came in response to questions from Rep. Eric Swalwell, D-Calif, who referenced a text message Taylor sent saying it would be "crazy" to withhold military aid from Ukraine. The impeachment probe centers around a July phone call in which Trump asked the president of Ukraine to investigate former vice president and 2020 presidential candidate Joe Biden and his son, Hunter. Some government officials have alleged that aid to Ukraine was tied to its willingness to launch those investigations.
