How To Replace the Spark Plugs in the BMW i8 for required service maintenance

How To Replace the Spark Plugs in the BMW i8 for required service maintenance I changed the spark plugs in my BMW i8 and saved a lot of money by doing it myself. BMW recommends that the spark plugs in the BMW i8 are replaced every 30000 miles or 48000 km. By following the steps in this video, you can performed the required service maintenance and replace your spark plugs for a fraction of the cost. In addition, FCPEuro offers a 100% warranty on all parts they sell. They specialize in European cars, including parts, such as the spark plugs for the BMW i8. If you purchase a set of spark plugs through FCPEuro, any replacement set you purchase from them in the future will cost nothing, because you can fill out the return authorization form, receive authorization, and send your the original spark plugs back to them for reimbursement. This includes all parts they sell, including wear items like brake pads, oil and filters! This is not a sponsored video and I get nothing in return for suggesting them. Please see FCPEuro for details:

These are the torque settings:
Ignition Coils: 6 ft-lbs or 8Nm
Spark Plugs: 17 ft-lbs or 23 Nm

---

These are the parts I used to complete the job:

A 3/8" ratchet, extension bar and a universal swivel joint.

A 3/8" torque wrench that can be set to a minimum of 6 ft-lbs (8 Nm)

External Torx E-Torx Socket E8 (to remove the ignition coils). I suggest getting an E-Torx Kit:

3 Spark Plugs. I suggest the NGK plugs from FCPEuro:
NGK 95248 SILZKGR8C8S Laser Iridium Plug

A Spark Plug Removal Tool. I suggest the Burger Motorsports magnetic spark plug tool:
Burger Motorsports Specialty Spark Plug Socket Tool for 2006+ Turbo BMW Engines

A Spark Plug Installation Tool. I suggest the Texton spark plug tool:
Thexton Mfg Co. 492 Spark Plug Installer/Remover Kit

Something to protect the paint on your BMW i8. I suggest a Moving Blanket:

These are the steps required to change the spark plugs:

Start with a cold engine
Perform the steps one cylinder at a time
Remove all covers over the engine
Unlock the electrical connector from the ignition coil
Release the E-Torx screw from the ignition coil
Pull upwards to remove the ignition coil
Blow out any dirt from the spark plug shaft using compressed air
Unscrew spark plugs with removal tool and universal swivel joint to prevent plug breakage
Insert new plug into spark plug installation tool (tube)
Do not let the spark plug fall into the shaft, to prevent electrode damage
Make spark plug hand tight, then remove spark plug installation tool (tube)
Use torque wrench to tighten spark plug to 17 ft-lbs or 23Nm using universal swivel joint to prevent plug breakage
Reinstall ignition coil by pushing it over the spark plug until secure
Insert wire connector onto ignition coil until it clicks
Tighten screw on ignition coil to 6 ft-lbs or 8Nm
