Protracted and thoughtful observation: grass

Protracted and thoughtful observation: grass One Permaculture Principle is "Protracted and thoughtful observation, not protracted and thoughtless action." That is what this video is mostly about.
Another Principle is "Permaculture is information (and imagination) intensive."
What I should o now (but probably wont, because as I said in th video, I can't really make use of the space) is research what types of grasses they are, and why each of them seems to be growing in particular situations in the lawn. I could also research their food value for livestock, although the chickens tend to only eat the seed heads of most of them, and scratch around the bottoms for insects and fallen seeds.
Some of the grass is cut (before seed heads develop) to make straw for the nestbox, and sometimes it actually looks like good quality hay
