He paid off thousands of dollars worth of layaway purchases for several people.
Shoppers like Hannah Haynes say they never could have imagined something like this would happen.
Haynes, like other shoppers knew Monday was the deadline to pay for items on layaway at the Anniston Walmart.
She stopped by the store on her lunch break to pick up her children's Christmas gifts.
"I said I just wanna check and see how much I owe on my layaway so I can get it off in time for Christmas,' Haynes said about her conversation with the cashier. "She said 'okay.' So she pulled up my account and she said 'you don't owe anything.' I said 'excuse me.'"
Haynes learned what the Secret Santa did and says she was in disbelief.
"[The cashier] said, 'yeah he came in and he paid off everyone's layaway totaling $65,000."
Walmart managers could not confirm the amount spent to pay for the items but said the person did pay a substantial amount.
Each customer who came to pick up their layaway items on Monday received a note that read " God loves you. Jesus paid the price."
Shoppers like Kandy Ward say they loved the message the Secret Santa wanted to share.
"That really topped it off," Ward explained. "I really loved the message that he put out there and I think that's what he wanted to do."
Haynes agreed.
"Everyday I wish I could thank the anonymous person for being so obedient," Haynes said.
Some shopper say the gift came at the right time.
"I'm grateful. I'm like extremely blessed, shocked, but I'm happy," Yasmine Kirksey, a Walmart shopper said.
Kirksey came to pick up her items on Tuesday after hearing about the news on Facebook.
Haynes says she put the note from the mystery man on her refrigerator and plans to keep it there as long as she can.
To her, it will serve as a reminder to be good to others, even if you don't know them.
"Everyday I'm gonna wake up like, how can I bless someone?" Haynes said. "How can I show someone that type of love?"
Many of the shoppers say they wish they knew the identity of the person so they could thank him for his generosity.
