3 palm trees were being removed from the lobby of the Hotel. One tree approx 40 feet tall had a worker attached to it and was cutting on the tree when it suddenly fell over. The worker fell approx 30 feet breaking several bones according to the company spokesperson. The work was transported to Scripps La Jolla Hosptial with major injuries. CalOSHA has reportedly already investigated the scene. The trees were being removed due to old age. The company is Arbor West, and the Hotel would not give us permission to take a video of the scene inside.
