After a nice long sleep from jetlag, we are up and ready to explore Athens! Our hotel is a short walk from Plaka, the old city, so off we go. But we were blown away when we came to our first ruins... just in the middle of the city. And then we keep walking and there are more ruins... and more! They are everywhere. There are fences or glass around them so you can take in their beauty but not get close enough to damage them. We get our first view of the Acropolis and are in wonder that it is still standing, in the middle of a metropolitan city, after all of these years! Wow, we love it here!
