The Chicago L is color-coded with the colors red, blue, green, purple, yellow, orange, and brown. How did this come to be? In 1993, the CTA decided to move to a color-coded system to make the CTA L system easier to navigate. They then went to work deciding on which L train lines got which colors. Some of the Chicago L lines got colors based on their history, while others were purely aesthetic. Some colors were even chosen to represent a feature of their line. Insta: @bored_in_chicago
