When you decide to build a personal brand, that brand will form its own identity. It will become its own "Person". Consciously looking to build brand identity is a positive action to take, many people miss out a lot of steps involved. This could be the reason why they are not standing out from their competitors as much as they wished. Digital identity is one key aspect in this process.

Digital identity is everything online this could include

-Social media platforms
-Websites
-Podcasts

Your brands personality should be obvious in everything you do online. When someone sees you or your brand they should instantly be reminded of what it is you do. This subliminal marketing strategy is very powerful when used correctly and consistently.

Here are a few areas to look at when it comes to digital brand identity;

Logo
It should be simple; it should probably have one or two colours in it. Very few logos have more than three colours. So, keep it simple.

Illustrations
There are a million illustration styles and iconography styles out there. By choosing one that goes along with your brands visual elements your brand becomes really recognisable.

Colour
You want to develop a colour palette for your brand. Lots of brand colour palettes have maybe three to four, maybe five colours in them. So you want to develop a brand colour palette that speaks a lot about brands personality and the strategy behind what it is that you do and what it is that you offer.

Fonts
You want to choose a font or two fonts for your brand, generally, a main font. This could be the font that appears in your brand identity or logo and a secondary font. Fonts have personalities and says a lot about your brand. So be very thoughtful and very careful when you choose the fonts that are going to be associated in a very consistent way with your brand.

Patterns
A lot of people forget about pattern and texture when they design their brand. But this is a key element that can be leveraged to be able to recognise you and your brand when people come across you.

Sound
Sound is a way that you can brand yourself. Having a distinct sound that when heard by your consumers reminds them of you. Think back to the radio jingle days. You will see this becoming increasingly more relevant with the rise of podcasts and audio content.

Photography
Choosing one style of photography and using it consistently across all of your brand touch points can really help solidify how your brand is recognised.

WHAT IS A PERSONAL BRAND

A personal brand is how you promote yourself. It is the unique combination of skills, experience, and personality that you want to show the world.

You use your personal branding to differentiate yourself from your competitors. When done effectively, you can combine your personal brand in with your business in ways that corporate brands and organisations struggle to do.

Professionally, your personal brand is the image that people see of you. It is a combination of how they look at you in real life and the impression that people gain from the information about you available online.

You can either ignore your personal brand, and let it develop organically, OR you can take control of your personal brand and write your own narrative.

Over time I began building a vast amount of knowledge around content creation, personal branding and social media strategy.

Fast forward and I now help and consult other business owners on the same method that I used to build my own personal brand from the ground up.
