After Australia's wildfires: What happens when 1 billion animals die?

It’s reported that upwards of one billion animals died in Australia due to the wildfires. And now that the fires are out across the country, officials have began burying the carcasses of these animals – but how much that will affect the ecosystem is still unclear.
