Catalent Announces First FDA-Approved Generic HFA Inhaler

Catalent and Perrigo announce a major breakthrough in affordable generic medications. Albuterol sulfate inhalation aerosol, a generic version of ProAir® HFA, received approval for an Abbreviated New Drug Application (ANDA), the first such approval of a generic metered-dose inhaler (MDI) since CFC-based inhalers were phased out. This also marks the first ANDA approval of an inhaler utilizing the newer hydrofluoroalkane (HFA) propellants.
