In US news and current events today, the coronavirus outbreak is has everyone on high alert in the world. News of the spread of coronavirus and the increasing number of recorded cases has prompted the CDC to release coronavirus updates, specifically COVID-19, and guidelines, as well as caused many countries and cities to restrict travel. The coronavirus, sometimes referred to as the Wuhan virus because COVID-19 seems to have originated in the China city of Wuhan, has hit sites in the Middle East particularly hard.
The novel coronavirus — referred to often as COVID-19, the Wuhan virus, or simply the coronavirus — has forced Islam's holiest site in Saudi Arabia, Mecca, to restrict its visitors. In February, the government of Saudi Arabia announced a temporary suspension of all pilgrimages to Mecca and Medina for anyone coming from outside the country. Iran, a neighboring country to Saudi Arabia, has one of the highest numbers of recorded cases of novel coronavirus outside of China.
