Liverpool are a class above Arsenal and the Gunners will ‘need a telescope’ to see the Premier League leaders by the end of the campaign.
Arsenal will ‘need a telescope to see Liverpool’ by the end of the season such is the gap that exists between the two sides, according to Danny Murphy. Unai Emery’s new-look team travelled to Anfield last Saturday hoping to extend their 100% start to the season at a venue which has become a deeply unhappy hunting ground in recent years. Despite the presence of David Luiz and record signing Nicolas Pepe making his full debut, Arsenal were undone by familiar defensive failings and erratic finishing. Liverpool took a deserved lead five minutes before half-time when Joel Matip powered home Trent Alexander-Arnold’s corner and Mohamed Salah made the game safe with two goals in the space of nine second-half minutes.

That’s according to Danny Murphy, who believes Liverpool’s 3-1 win over the London club on Saturday was ‘too easy’ for the Reds.

Jurgen Klopp’s side continued their fine home form against the Gunners – their past two meetings at Anfield ended in 5-1 and 4-0 demolitions – as Mohamed Salah netted twice to lift them two points clear at the top of the table.

The result also extended their run of successive league victories to 12 – their longest winning run in the Premier League era.

It was a war of attrition at Anfield as Arsenal invited pressure from the European champions and looked to hit on the break. Their tactics bore fruit in the early stages but strikers Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Nicolas Pepe could not take advantage of their chances in the first-half.

Eventually, the tactics backfired as Liverpool took the lead on the stroke of half-time as Joel Matip headed home from a corner, with Salah scoring a penalty and a fine solo strike to seal the points, before Lucas Torreira pulled one back late on.
