On Tuesday it was confirmed over 100 cases of the deadly coronavirus have been recorded in Australia.
While over 110,000 cases of the virus have been recorded globally.
Professor Senanayake told Sky News host Peta Credlin it may take “10 to 12 months before we have a widely available vaccine”.
“If we’re going to give it in mass doses all over the world, we need to make sure not only that it works, but that it’s safe”.
“Otherwise that could be a real disaster”.
