The failure of Uber to assist in following up a theft perpetrated by an individual making an Uber Eats delivery has been called into question. The company refused to release the information the Victorian Police require to go after the criminal.
Sky News host Peta Credlin said much of this information would be held on servers overseas, making it very difficult for Australian law enforcement to "get hold of it".
Victorian Shadow Minister for Police David Southwick said "if you have a company operating in Australia, they need to operate under our laws”.
“No one is above the law,” he said.
Mr Southwick said “police need resources and the powers to ensure that… people are prosecuted”.
